Boating on Girwa River,Katernia wildlife sanctuary,UP,India.

Katernia ghat sanctuary in UP,India offers boating facilities on Girwa river which is a natural border between india and Nepal.Thereare two motor boats available at the jetty which are available at a nominal fee of INR 450 + petrol to be supplied by the person hiring the boat.Believe me its a boatride worth taking in this times where rivers are polluted, this river is untouched, least affected by pollution and it is home to endangered Gangetic Dolphin which is very difficult to photograph.I spent considerable time to photograph it but was unsucessful. But apart from dolphins the river cruise is a divine experience because in this times you come across very few rivers which are least affected by advance of human civilization.

Grappling with python

On a recent visit to Katerniaghat wildlife sanctuary in district Bahraich, Uttar pradesh I stumbled on an information related to presence of pythons in the abandoned buildings of katernia ghat narrow gauge railway station in katernia range of katernia ghat wildlife sanctuary, India. We immediately set out to explore the area the area on reaching the site we waded through the thick elephant grass to reach the room in the ruins of the abandoned Railway station there we spotted the python lying idle enjoying the winter sunshine. It became agitated by the sounds of our approaching footsteps and tried to resist our intrusion in his domain but I was able to shoot some videos and photographs before he retreated into his dwelling place.
